CHINESE NEW YEAR ACTIVITIES INSPIRED BY THE BOOK "EXPLORING CHINA" - FREE DOWNLOAD
Hello friends, it's that time of the year again for the traditional celebration of the Chinese New Year! While there are less noisy festivities out on the street this year, you can help your little ones celebrate the traditional festivities by engaging the kids in some fun activities.
Here are some resources for you to keep your kids busy while celebrating the themes of this holiday and the country it originated from - CHINA. They are both taken from the book EXPLORING CHINA - in our "Countries and Cities" collection, and they are super useful if your little ones are learning Mandarin!
1- CHINESE NEW YEAR COLORING SHEET
A design taken from our book page that includes the essential Chinese New Year traditions: wearing the traditional dress (qipao), giving out lai-see, and decorating the house with cherry blossoms and the mandarin fruits.
2- CHINA-THEMED MANDARIN FLASH CARDS
Want to further the learnings about China - the country origin of CNY? Create a flash card deck with fun images and vocabulary from our book EXPLORING CHINA. You can play with this WITH OR WITHOUT having the book!
IF YOU HAVE THE BOOK: EXPLORING CHINA:
Cut the cards out and match them with the images in the book, have your little ones practice the words printed on the cards
IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE BOOK: EXPLORING CHINA
Cut the cards out in pairs, then you can play a matching game or a memory game based on the cards. Bonus points if they can sound out the words!
FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! KUNG HEI FAT CHOI! GONG XI FA GAI!
